Carl Hans Lody was convicted of spying.

He had originally come to Edinburgh to spy and sent a message back which led to the first ever sinking of a British ship by torpedo. However, he later began to make mistakes and started sending messages back in German without encrypting them.

After he moved to Killarney, Ireland where he was arrested.
